Our first titration for learning the skills is to determine the exact concentration of diluted HCl (approximately 0.1 mol L-1). This was made for us by diluting the lab HCl (it claims to be 1 mol L-1) by a factor of ten, using a volumetric flask. We are using our standard sodium carbonate solution (and methyl orange indicator) to do this.

The next step is to use our concordant results to determine the exact concentration of the HCl, then use this to determine the exact concentration of the original (undiluted) HCl. This will be looked at next week.
